I can’t contribute worse shred instructional vids, as I tend to block them out of memory like a bad crime scene. But I’ll contribute my one Vinnie Vincent story.

Back in the late 80’s/early 90’s one of my best friends was a student of Tim Bogert (Beck, Bogert, Appice; Vanilla Fudge, toured with Hendrix and later Zeppelin). They were cruising through NAMM one year and my friend snapped a pic of Vinnie Vincent walking by. Tim turned and said, “Why did you take a picture of that ugly chick??!”

True story.

I watched the first minute, then jumped in about 20 minutes. WTF is he doing?? The tone I can live with, but the..."playing" sounds horrible and his "instructions" aren't any better. I am seriously confused and I don't think you will find any worse from a known player.
(Not saying I can do better - I do not shred - but jeez...)

The first sentence in the description says it all: “Vinnie shows you his unique approach to soloing.”

So if you didn’t know how to shred before, you still might not know after the video either.

Kiss is OK but I'm no fanboi...never even heard VV play ( ..still have'nt 'cuz I did'nt watch the video's ..all that pink put me off :lmao , but I like MAB (solo stuff ..not Nitro!!) ! Dude has more talent in his little pinky than you will find on this whole forum combined

Regarding my worst ever shred video.. this guy takes the crown as far as I'm concerned. He's got everyone from the 80's beaten :bigthumb:

On the other hands the good guys are:

1. Yngwie
2. Vinnie Moore
3. Vai
4. Macalpine
5. Friedman

Never got into Paul Gilbert's solo stuff...never really got into much Shrapnel-style shred stuff at all in fact. I prefer dudes that shred in bands.

I got through about a minute of the Italian boy's video, sounded more like a pissed of bumblebee than anything else.

As for the VVI, Mark Slaughter and Dana Strum were a better band without VV.

On a technical level....WOW
But in a listening level....I just can’t. There’s nothing musical there.
I’m a shred fan but this is just too much. I need some melody with the shred stuff sprinkled in.

I like Vai, some Satch, etc but at least they have some soul in their playing, asides it sounding like an angry bumblebee, it has no life, no energy. Technique and technicality he gets an A but from aural/enjoyment standpoint he gets a much lower grade.

Sorry, I'm a little late to the party.

I just watched the vid up to the point where he shows the tuning of his guitar (at about 8:30). I don't think that in the past 60 years I have ever heard a guitar that sounds so bad! Sounds like his strings are 20 years old and covered with corrosion and gunk just at the breaking point, and buzzing against the frets and like he is using a rusty tin can for an amp. In the first 8 min of this vid everytime he hits a string with his pick, there is more noise than note!

Sorry, but I just couldn't force myself to listen to any more of the vid. I do have to say that I wish I could play as fast as he...there is SOME talent in that respect (I'm not saying that "fast" in and of itself is good, just that I don't play fast because I don't have enough right to left hand coordination). "Fast" needs to be used with discretion, It is not and end in and of itself. That's really where "talent" comes into play.

Also, aside from that fact that VV has no clue what "tone" is, he also has no taste.
