Help me with rails?

Hi all, I have a "strat" with 3 Hot Gold Lace Sensors in it. Now before you laugh, they really sound good. Just a hair away from being a straight single coil tone but less noise. I digress.

What I'm after is NO noise if possible. I am trying to research the rail series (and/or the single sized humbuckers). I have thought about maybe a vintage rails neck, duckbucker middle, and cool rails bridge. But I am concerned about them sounding too much like something modern, unlike single coils. I also don't want lots of output!

What do the above sound like? I never believe marketing, so your descriptions really help!

Thanks for your feedback!

Re: Help me with rails?

I think that would be a pretty good combo. There are several guys on here that have rails-loaded strats and just love them. Mine is a little hotter than what you're looking for with a hot rails middle and cool rails neck.

If you want the ultimate in noiseless single coils and still keep that vintage strat sound take a look at the new Classic Stack Plus pups. A few of the guys on here (Lew, TGWIF) gave them rave reviews.

Re: Help me with rails?

I'm one of those rail strat freaks, but have a simple mod that makes them possible for me-

I spin all of my rails- Most dual rails tend to be more modern, thicker, with far more bass, ie my Joe Barden S pups are just this side of a mini-humb-

But when you spin you can drop down to just a hint of bass and the classic sounds just leap out- And I've got good enough sheidling that they stay hum reisitant till I hit 0 on the second rail-

You cant spin the duck or the vintage if I'm thinking right, but you can do the cool and hot rails-

You can tell I'm an ardent advocate, but it's also one of the easiest mods out there, if you dont use tone, it's a perfect replacement and if you do, just go to a cocentric pot (I did this on my nitefly so I would have tone roll of for the JB in the bridge)

But I do want to try to clasic stack as well and thinking about a project for it now-

Cheers
