help! my wah pedal died

i cant figure out what happened. my bad horsie II just died on me. :smack: when i step on it, it just mutes the sound, even though the light that shows its working is on. its been actin a little strange lately, makin some popping noises when ive played it through my rectoverb. anyone have any ideas what it could be? i've had it for about a year.

Contact Morley....They more than likely will repair it for you for free...

More than likely the optic stuff went out...I had one of these very recently that I Looked at for a forum member...When I called Morley for parts,the guy told me to send it to them and they'd fix it for no charge....

Let Morley deal with their pedal and just pay the shipping..Can't beat that..None of us can diagnose the pedal without being with it? :smack:

Wait, I thought the optic stuff was the switching aspect of the pedal...or is it detecting the sweep? I have no idea. :laugh2:

I think you're right and I also know it was a better move to let Morley fix it because I was pretty uncertain about the workings of that pedal? :burnout:

What did you think of the insides of the Morley, from a tech's viewpoint? I have a Bad Horsie also, I really like the sound of it a lot, especially the buffer circuit. I always have it as my first pedal, after my guitar, it even makes a scratchy spot in my old EB volume pedal almost unnoticable.

I wasn't impressed with the tone of the Bad Horsie pedal and I Much prefer a modded Vox 847 or even the 848 for my music styles...

The Bad Horsies have a really narrow sweep and an annoying mid scoop. But they're good once modded and I love the switchless feature.

The Bad Horsies use a combination of LED's and photocells to produce their tone. There are two sets (two LED's/two photocells). One of them controlls the switching. As soon as the pedal's powered and the input jack is plugged in, the lights inside the pedal turn on. When you move the pedal a certain distance, the light from one of the LED's hits the first photocell and activates the circuit. The other combination will control the circuit (certain amount of light hitting it determines what the wah sounds like).

Couple, actually. I emailed Morley with my questions about the wah and how I could get it to better fit my needs, and he sent me a PDF file with some mods that I could do.

I did those mods, but it still wasn't quite there, so I did some from this site: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/s.castledine/greenfuz/wah.html The mods work, you just have to be able to read your schematic and interpret things properly (the schematic can be found at the site).

I agree, and John knows a good wah pedal when he hears one.

Thanks buddy....
It's funny because every wah sounds a little bit different...Basically I'm really into the wah tones from my favorite players and from the early years(Late 60s)...I voice my wahs so they have the tone,sweep,and vibe of Page,Beck,Clapton,Trower,and Hendrix,but with alot of modern features that allows a guy to further adjust the wah to their specific guitar/amp...

Most people like a 9 volt power supply and I give them that also..
It's not that the Bad Horsie is a bad wah,but I didn't like the way it was voiced...I didn't dislike the way the board and the wah were designed either and I agree that the sweep was a bit narrow or limited...Hopefully those mods will get a guy where he needs to be though...
