HELP NEEDED: WHich Pickups for PRS CE 22?!?!

Just picked up a PRS CE 22 and looking to do a pickup swap. In general, I'm not a fan of PRS or Gibson pups. I prefer SD. I play a mix of alternative, pop rock, modern to hard rock. I play both clean and dirty.

Amp: Mesa Stiletto Ace
Cab: Mesa Widebody 112
Guitar: PRS CE 22

I narrowed Bride list down to

1. C5
2. CC
3. Pegasus

Neck list is

1. 59N
2. A2P
3. Sentient

Was leaning towards C5/59n...... I can get CC in white though.....

Thoughts?

Not really looking for others (full shred, distortion, screamin demon, PG, JB, Jazz) as I either have or had them in other guitars. Only looking at SD.

C5/59n sounds easily like a win-win affair to me! That combo gets my vote! Wonderful pups, they are.

If you find the C5 too scooped, you can always change the magnet: A2, it becomes a CC, ceramic, it becomes a Custom. I think what you chose should work really well, though.

Def cool to have options. I don't foresee having any issues with scooped mids. I have the mids set on my stileto ace amp to 9-10 oclock, so I can always just adjust it.

I ended up ordering the custom 5/59 combo

Don't think you'll regret it.
And when you don't completely like it there's still the option to swap magnets! Can't go wrong, you'll get a satisfiying tone, I'm pretty sure of it!

Suhr SSH+/SSV pickups, or Thornbuckers if you want something lower output.

Suhr pickups have gotten super popular in Toronto recently, I know Aaron from the video used to have the Pegasus/Sentient in that guitar but switched out immediately after our mutual friend Robb let him try a guitar with the SSH+. They make some pretty magical pickups.

taking the guitar to my tech today to get c5/59 installed, setup and to have a 3 way toggle installed to replace 5 way rotary dial.

Re: HELP NEEDED: WHich Pickups for PRS CE 22?!?!

Congrats on the fine choice of pickups.
I have a C5 (Unoriented, unpolished magnet from addiction fx) and a Jazz with A2 (unpolished magnet from addiction fx) in my PRS SE Custom 22. Not entirely the same guitar as yours but comparable at least. I don't really have any scooped mid issues yet with my current band but the same pickup in my Ibanez SZ did have the dreaded scoop going on. I have an A8 magnet to try out next, I find the high strings with a C5 a little bit brittle sounding. The Jazz with A2 is really nice, not too bassy/boomy like the '59 can be sometimes and is pretty much instant Slash neck tone.
One more thing you might want to try on your guitar is 50's wiring, in some guitars this will take it over the edge. Do not forget to use PIO caps :D.

Come back and let us know how this turns out!
