ok i know this is not a pickup question

but please, gurus!engineers!help me out!

just got an amt tube magnum, yes it has a little tube sitting inside the metal casing

i tried with a 200ma 9v boss adapter, seems the distortion level is rather low, even when the drive is at max

so
1. is it because I need a 500ma(the specified input current) adapter?200ma wont deliver enough power for the tube?
2. or is it because my amp (fender princeton 112 plus) is low gain and wont reflect the full potential?

thx a bunch

Yes to 1. You can exceed the necessary current, but NOT lower it. Stop using it this way and find a correct adapator.

The amp has nothing to do with it. Just set it for the most headroom possible and if it souds fine on its own then you won't need to worry about it. Though some amps do take pedals better than others.

thx!~

so i tried using the 9v 1.3A(way over 500ma) adapter from digitech for a sec on this amt unit and the light didn't light up...wot could be the cause?would this damage the pedal pretty fast?

i checked with the 200ma again later to make sure the pedal is still alive after all these tests...

well im getting a 500ma adapter soon but just cant wait...

check the polarity and make sure to use the proper one, using the wrong one could damage the unit
