Help - Small (max 30 watts) Tube Heads for Metal??

WITH FULL DISTORTION

F. Hails Railsologist
Hi guys Guys
its been A While(actually AGES AHAHAH ) that i didnt post anything here right?
Q: )

I have a lot going on here but im still into Guitars and stuffs
Im going to move from a House to an apartment (and all the hassle the follows it up )and im slowly rebuilding my setup and modifying it.

SO now its time to get a New Tube head and a 2X12.
The 2x12 cabient im ordering locally, but the speakers are going to be Warehouse Guitar speakers. Ill order them direct from Usa, unless they dont want to sell it to me.
Plus i already made my mind on which models ill get, so its either a Liberator + Retro 30, or 2 Retro 30s in case the first 2 arent compatible together.

So lets go to the reason of this post :

I checked THIS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Akwf5sLk-o video on youtube and loved the amps sound, BUT.. i heard some reviews that did say it isnt TIGHT(im mainly concerned with the bass tightness but i think that the overall tightness of the amp has to do with it too) for metal. so it started to scare and worry me a bit.

Everyone seems to point me to the Mesa MIni rectfier, but from all the videos i saw on youtube, the tone is either slightly SPARKLE, granulated , marshall like, or its really weird, when you compare the overal ROUNDNESS of the amp. it sounds to me like a SQUARE version of the dual rect regular head. Is it just me or you guys did perceive that too??

SO, due to this unabillity of making my mind on a new Small tube amp head, im here to ask for your UNholy help AGAIN
Q: P

What im looking for is this ;
1 - An amp that has a max of 30 watts and that can be run at even lower wattage. like if the amp has a built in attenuator. just in case 20 or 25 or 30 watts are too much for the apartment.
2 - A 2 channel Amp is more than enough for me. (one 100% CLEAN. One 100% dirty and voiced and toned Towards Metal and with LOTS Of distortion. Im no rolling the gain knob down ahahahahahahah NEVER. ALWAYS With Full DIstortion.)
3 - Tight and deep Bass, Crushing middles (and lots of them) and nice , beautiful HIghs is what im looking for.
4 - The clean channel needs to be Very Good or at least good, cause appart from playing CLEAN, my main goal with the clean channel is to experiment with various distortion pedals in it to get different distortion tones. Its not to complement the already overdriven channel too with a tubescreamer or overdrive pedal. im not looking for that. Q: )

5 - Desireable amp controls : effects loop. middles, treble and Bass. master volume. Gain. i guess thats all right?!?!
I think thats Enough and pretty much sums my quest for a new amp head.

****ing Hails again and thank you in Advance
Q: )

JP
PS - IM selling my charvel and my fender. i would trade either one for aN Ibanez RG7420 made in japan.

It really sounds like you need one of the Krank Jr's. Should be right up your alley. There is also the Jim Root TT, and the Dark Terror. One of those should get you there.

Edit: If you want clean the TT and DT are out.

Also check out the Engl Ironball.

It's new, and it's pretty damn expensive for the 20watter that it is, but it sounds great, and matches all your criteria.

TH30 should be fine. Toss an overdrive in front to tighten it up, and put an EQ in the loop to shape it.

Re: Help - Small (max 30 watts) Tube Heads for Metal??

Hey everdrone. ahahah only problem is that the amps you recommended me have NO clean channel. and i need that Q: (

Re: Help - Small (max 30 watts) Tube Heads for Metal??

not digging the th30 clean sound too much but it is at about 2:50:

anything is a sacrifice, and I aint' much of a cleanz guy

Re: Help - Small (max 30 watts) Tube Heads for Metal??

My uncle uses a Vox Night Train with a heavy overdrive. Two channels, and it has a thick switch to give you even more gain. Great amp. but it is 50 watts, which is a little bigger than you wanted.

Not a problem. I know that it can do metal well (probably not as good as other amps) and it holds up really nice. More of like a classic metal than a modern metal though.

Re: Help - Small (max 30 watts) Tube Heads for Metal??

Check this out around the 10:30 mark.

Re: Help - Small (max 30 watts) Tube Heads for Metal??

If you can go up to 50W, check out the EVH 5150 III.

I liked that Jet city amp.IN this particular clip the distortion sounds a bit CHORUSED and Sparkled, but besides of that .... Very nice. may be what im after.
how many does that amp costs?!?!?!

Re: Help - Small (max 30 watts) Tube Heads for Metal??

Give laney Ironheart a try? The stock cab has dark hifi sounding speakers though.

I have one. but I don't really bond with it. It has great rhytm sound but the for lead It's "lacking" maybe I'm expecting too much (it's not a marshall). And also give orange dual terror a try. Why I didn't mention TH30 you ask? Because, I personally, dont like th30. Like the laney I think the th30 is "lacking" (harmonics) in lead.

Re: Help - Small (max 30 watts) Tube Heads for Metal??

I Liked BOTH. they are different though.
laney ironheart and jet city 666 jca22h and jca 20h
only problem is that they dont have a ****ing CLEAN Channel. Q: ( or do they have and i missed the part where they demo it and explain that ???
thanks for showing me these two amps guys.
