Re: Help! Specs of CS signature SD Jake E. Lee Humbucker

Took me just a minute to google. The bridge is a JB with Alnico II. The singles are sds1.

Re: Help! Specs of CS signature SD Jake E. Lee Humbucker

That's basically what I find too. At one point he was using 12 pole pieces in the JB instead of 6, similar to the Alan Holdsworth model. But it's basically a JB with an A2. Jake is known for playing the JB and that specific JB cutting tone can be heard on songs from Ozzy like Bark at the Moon to his work with Badlands. The JB is all over his work.

It's late and I can't read well enough to find any more. Time to sleep.

Alot of Jakes studio work was recorded using his white 64 SG Junior with a P90, which is his personal fav guitar.

I didnt know that he had a CS pickup. To my knowledge, he used a red Allan Holdsworth charvel with a prototype AH-1 pickup. I am pretty sure his white and purple charvels were just run of the mill 80s JB's. I think his current Charvel sig model has a modern run of the mill JB.

Re: Help! Specs of CS signature SD Jake E. Lee Humbucker

His Charvel Holdsworths (Red with Gold harware and mirror guard, as well as a Sonic Blue one with black guard) were his BATM tour guitars which had the Holdsworth pup, his Purple and Blue bursts which he used during the Ultimate Sin tour (which he spec’d out once he finally got some cash from those shrewds) had a JB in them.
The Purple Burst he gave to Annie Lennox as a gift. (which is neither here nor there)
Been a long time since I read up on this, but alot of this info was on the old Jake E. Lee.com website.

His new personal Charvel Whitey has a JB but it also has a mahogany neck because he was trying to capture the tone of his SG. < this is all documented online in interviews as well as guitar magazines.

Ok, so a JB, a JB2, or a P90. :lmao:

One of those. They are all, umm, pretty close

Here is.
So, they made a CS for Jake... but... that pickup alreqdy exist??? That's not a CS. Hehehe

Re: Help! Specs of CS signature SD Jake E. Lee Humbucker

I wantt to use those BB pro #1 (neck) and CS Jake E. Lee... (bridge) for play stoner/doom.
Should work?

Re: Help! Specs of CS signature SD Jake E. Lee Humbucker

If the Jake pickup is indeed an A2, then it would be fine for doom stuff...you don't want lows too tight, and it should fuzz out just fine.

Dave, can you do us a favor and inquire about this pickup and its specs please? Also is it available over the counter?

Re: Help! Specs of CS signature SD Jake E. Lee Humbucker

Ahh i got it now. These CS pups are going into the Charvel signature blue burst guitars. Pretty awesome. I would love to get my hands on one.

I can, and so can you (you will get an answer faster as you won't have to depend on me to relay the answer back). I know that some OEM pickups are not available OTC, but no idea about this one. Send an email here.

Hmmm, very interesting. I didn't know anything about those. Based on that pic, my guess is there are a bunch of CS pickups that we have no clue about. At one time or another I bet Seymour has worked with just about every artist who has maintained some level of stained success over the years.

You can tell from the pic straight away that it has 12 adjustable pole pieces. I guess what we don't know is if it's jut a standard JB wind, a JB2 or some other kind of tweak. I literally could not find ANY info on these via google, other than he used an AH-1 prototype or a JB with an A2 magnet. Just the different magnet could make it a CS order. Someone like Jake wouldn't take time, probably, to change magnets himself. He might have a tech who could, but sometimes these guys just prefer to order through a Custom Shop.

I personally wouldn't have much use for this pickup, but I hope someone get's the specs from the CS so we can know.

As a side note, I sure would like to sit next MJ for a day and have her talk to me about all of the one off and custom pickups she has made over the years, and be able to say; "ok, build me one of those; naw, not that one; yep, I'll take one of those..." and go on all day. There would be more pickups than I could afford to buy, but it would be great to buy 10 or so.

Maybe when I'm back on my feet I can set something like that up. I know you can go take tours of the factory, but I bet with enough lead time planning you could arrange to sit with MJ for a couple of hours, while she worked.

Side note: the day we had at Users Day 2005 at the factory and getting to wind my own pickup was one of the best days I've had. Such a neat experience.

Re: Help! Specs of CS signature SD Jake E. Lee Humbucker

I do not have them at my hand. I have not bought them yet.
I just sent some emails to see if they give me information.

thank you very much to all!!!

Re: Help! Specs of CS signature SD Jake E. Lee Humbucker

Oh... I thought that pic was of your pickups.. got ya. And Id like to thank you for bringing this to our attention cause like everyone else I had no idea about this, in fact I thought you were asking about his old stuff initially...

I dont have a use for an A2 bridge pup, but thats a simple fix.. I actually miss my old A5 Holdsworth pup more and more...

Re: Help! Specs of CS signature SD Jake E. Lee Humbucker

Hi!!
Maricela Juarez answered my email.
She said that the pickup is like the AH-1 (allan hordsworth) alnico V output: 16.8k
Sounds killer.
