HELP! things just got worse!

i decided to record the strange sputtering sound my amp was making when i played it cranked. before i hit record, i played a few (sputtering) power chords and then suddenly my output dropped dramatically! now the sputtering breaking up sound is gone, but my amp has lost a love of volume. Despite the volume drop, the pre-amp gain still sounds cranked.

when i noticed the problem to begin with, i changed my power tube and the problem became more pronounced. can something be wrong with my power tube's socket? i've isolated the problem to the amp, and it only happens when i'm driving my power section hard.

no suggestions other than what muttonchopsrule said in the other thread?

i figured an output drop would help diagnose the problem more specifically

Sorry I'm not much help dude, but it definetely sounds like its time to take it to a tech to properly diagnose and fix the problem. Sounds like it just keeps getting worse. I'd take it in before something is permanently damaged.
