Hey my fellow tone brothers. I just got an Rg1570. The guitar is great, the stock pickups however are a little lame. Let me run a couple of combinations by you guy's and I would love some feed back on them. This guitar will be used mostly for high gain crunchy metal riff and lead work. (metallica, pantera, etc.) In the bridge I'm thinking Dimebucker or Distortion and in the neck either a Full shred or another Distortion. Well what do you think? strengths and weakness of these combo's? Thanks in advance for your help. Scott. By the way I have a JB/Jazz combo in another guitar so I'm looking to expand my horizons with the other pickups I have listed.

Sounds like you've got a great combo in the other guitar dude
I just put breed and JB in mine and its really good too. If you want to turn it into a crunch riffing guitar then the dimebucker good be the pickup of your dreams
about its ability to solo i know not of :34:

I'd go with a Custom in the bridge and a Distortion in the neck, I'm not sure about the basswood/Distortion bridge combination but I've heard people raving avout that Custom in a basswood axe. It has a tad less output but a good high gain amp will fix that right up for you. What do you plan on using in middle, for the single coil I mean or are you not planning on replacing it?
Oh and the pick ups are directly placed into the body right? You're going to have to trim the sides because Duncan uses square ones while the Ibanez has 'em cut for the (DiMarzio styled) triangle shaped ones

Kev, that looks just like my guitar in your avatar. Aw dang Neeradj, I did'nt think I would have a fit problem. Come to think of it is'nt the Dime even larger than a standard SD humbucker? After posting this I realized you were talking about the mounting ears,so thats not so bad. And for the single I'm not sure, what do you think about the quarter pounder?

I can't help you on the single, I really don't know a lot about single coils except for the lil' '59, hotrails and duckbucker. The Dime isn't larger in a way that it won't fit a normal pick up slot so that's no problem at all. Anyway I'm sure someone here can help you out on the single coil
