Help! which tele pups?

Re: Help! which tele pups?

Doc-

That setup gets my vote for the world's most versatile guitar-WOW! I really have to think hard about going back to a neck HB in my Tele, although I've been tempted so many times.

My next experiment was going to be an A5 strat middle, like an SSL-1 or antiquity. Any thoughts on mixing an A5 mid with the rest?

Thanks,
Dave

the antiquity strat pickups are A2. though i think an A5 in the middle position like the ssl1 would brighten up and make the tone more like a strat lead / middle combo but a bit smoother.

Re: Help! which tele pups?

Hey everyone my first post to this forum!
I've got the Fralin BS with a 2% overwind in my Tele and they're pretty impressive. Very beefy and smooooth but the bridge sounds great through a TS-9. The only other pups I've tried in this guitar have been the Fender Nocaster set which had a very different flavor than the Fralins. I wasn't all that fond of the BS bridge PU until I cranked it pretty close to the strings. Got a lot more treble out of it and it's punchy as heck. I haven't tried the SD's yet, but of course, reading these listings I'm getting very tempted to try the JD bridge. I'm trying to control myself from starting a full fleged buying spree (also curious about the Hamel bridge PU), but you only live once, right? :)

That's what I'm hoping for-right now I think the A2p is a bit dead with the current setup. I'll have to give it a whirl...

Thanks,
Dave
