Unfortunately; the XTC doesn't do extreme metal that well. The Uberschall is far better suited, and has a nice clean channel.

The only thing I can think of for you, JP, other than a 5150 or Dual Recto, would be a Triaxis/2:90 rack setup, but I fear that would cost too much.

a friend OF MINE told me that maybe a dual recto will sound kinda muddy for leads. what are your thoughts about it Jeff?

Just remember you just can't order from where you want like that, since amps from USA, europe etc. use different voltages. You will need some special transformer thingie or something, if you go with an amp that use different voltages.

If you go Mesa, try to get an older Dual Recto (the two channel ones are the favorites). Those things are so freakin versatile it's not funny.

However, you'll probably be half deaf by the time you get it dialed in how you want. The knobs are rediculously sensitive to one another.

Jeff Loomis from Nevermore has used a Rectifier for leads on everything since Dead Heart In A Dead World, and never sounds muddy to my ears.

Chris is right; go with an older 2 channel one, though.

I think most of the anti-Recto attitude comes from people who've never played them, or the ones who spent 2 minutes with it in a music store (turned down really low).

It'll cost 1600 new. You can't get a 2 channel head new. Most people prefer the 2 channel head because they aren't as bright or icepicky as the 3 channel ones.

It says the cab has 4 x EV speakers. Note that an oversized cab with four 300W speakers weighs a TON!
