Have a good speaker (not guitar) cable going from it to the cab, never turn it on without a cable and a load (=cab) at the other end. Make sure the impedances on the back are correct according to the cab. Let it warm a few minutes on stand by, and then turn it off and start looking at the amp with most knobs down, even gain!

Re: HELP WITH AMP PRICES. i´ll buy my tube AMP

as said before this how I do it:
-use a speaker cable, check it before, never use a guitar cable to connect the cab!!
-never turn on without a cab connected the right way!
-first on standby for at least 5 minutes. don't mix up what standby is. on my amp it's power: on standby: off I think this can differ... someone with a 5150 will join soon to clarify if you're not sure
-volumes down check if there comes a sound if not switch off fast
-if it sounds right slowly (this is the most fun part coz the sound get better and better) crank the volume and have fun

Before turning off I have it at least 5 minutes on standby, too. Then turn off. If you want to carry it around wait again (amp off) until the tubes have cooled down

sorry for my crappy english

THANK´S MARCEL
all the infos ARE welcome
Well i just STILL have one doubt about this standby/power stuff..
Deadskinslayer told me the opposite, he said to turn the power on first, and then the standby
now i´m confused.. cause more than 2 people told me to to the power first, and then the standby
?!?!?!!?! WHICH one should i follow?

I want to tell you the same as DSS3! sorry! That was what I meant with do not mix it up.

To have the amp on stand by means to have power switch on and the standby switch on standby (not on) but maybe it's labeled different (!!!). That's confusing I know. :smack:

On this first stage just the heating of the tubes are on that's why it called warm up.
Take a look here: http://www.peavey.com/support\searchmanuals\list\5150.cfm

You first have the amp off:
Code:
 ON ON

>STANDBY< >POWER<
Then you put it on stand by mode for warming up like this:
Code:
 ON >ON<

>STANDBY< POWER
and after warming up:
Code:
>ON< >ON<

 STANDBY POWER

Hey, if you wanna hear how the lead sounds on the GH100TI take a look at this little video; this is Black Sabbath's "N.I.B" http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=60771767085539876&q=sabbath

It's not that loud though, so you have to turn your speakers up a bit :laugh2:

Here's a live version of "Dirty Women" by Sabbath, when they were in Prague, sometime this year, again, this is not the best quality but just turn your speakers up and you'll be fine, this is an audience recorded track;

A live video to "War Pigs" can be watched here, it is from the upcoming Ozzfest 10th anniversary DVD: http://www.98rock.com/cc-common/inconcert/ozzfest/

Here's a video with Ozzy, Tony, and Phil collins on drums, they're performing "Paranoid" at the Queens golden jubilee: http://s41.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=34PZQIXHFPG113A4ZM4UNLVNY7

As you probably can hear, the Laney GH100TI can nail Tony's old tone spot on, without problems, I simply LOVE these tones.

I especially like the "Dirty Women" live track since you really can hear the awesome lead tones.

But this is only the Sabbath part, it can do other stuff as well, this is a track from Tony's newest solo record, the track is called "What You're Living For", and it's a bit more straight rock 'n roll:
http://s41.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0ZH5MYYALTLU202YZR78O2I3D4

But still, I think these tracks all in all is only a small dosis of what this ONE CHANNEL amp can do, and this is only with the EL34's, but I'll let some of the other owners like screamingdaisy or matt_transition chime in about that.
