All I need is for something to keep it in place and from gettin banged around in the trailer. It's packed hard so I wouldn't have to worry too much, but always safe than sorry.

I highly recommend this company who sells on ebay. They make world tour worthy equipment and have decent prices. They don't have any 5150 cases currently in their store or on ebay, but call them and I'm sure they can tell you when they'll have some more. (may even have them on stock, just not online yet).

i wish someone used road cases for my 5150 cab.... it was Peavey Canada's artist loaner cab and the road crews didn't handle it very nice.. the bottom was used without casters and the vinyl is gone off the bottom and the screws for the corners were filled down from the stage and back of trucks floors... crazy... but i got a working cab with a bag of casters and mounts, plus new corners and screws to install for a $187.... so i didn't care how rough it was!!!! no one sees the bottom.... the speakers alone are worth more then $187

i also bought a 5150 head and a Classic 50 head... still had the roadie stickers on it to tell the crew where to place the knobs

This place is around here somewhere, never used them though. They have several styles for amp heads, and the 5150 is on their list.

I used this company when I had my cases built. I got the 1/2" ply and full recessed hardware. They were by far the cheapest for an actual quality case from my research. I hate to tell you this, but if you want a good case that is actually gonna protect your stuff and not just look cool, you're gonna have to spend some cash. I looked at building my own cases and all the hardware, latches, rivits and aluminum trim thats got lips built into it is mighty expensive. Then you still have to buy plywood, ABS, casters and foam which none of is very cheap either. There is a reason good cases are gonna cost you. But having been on the road its best to invest in good cases, believe me.

Yeah, don't skimp on cases.

I'd probably go for a Tuki padded cover, but I don't know how rigorously you guys are touring.

If you do get a headcase, get a live-in one, for god's sake. Those "pull the top off" ones are retarded!

When you buy roadcases, and start using them, you're overwhelmed by the sheer size and weight of it all....even the head cases.

Save yourself some money, and added weight, and get a Tuki padded cover for around $65. They're perfectly adequate for heavy gigging, and you can toss them behind your amp, rather than lugging cases alongside the stage.

As long as you don't drop the amp or use a cartage company, Tuki padded covers really do the job, with no additional size or weight.

This I will agree with. I had a case that held a Marshall JCM 2000, a Mesa Rectifier and some rack gear (tuner, power conditioner, and a bbe I never used) and that sucker was HEAVY. If you're not going to do heavy touring, you probably don't need any crazy cases as they're not near as fun as I thought they would be. But they were a necessary evil in my case.

I would, however, HIGHLY advise against a padded cover if you are going to be doing any substantial touring (i.e. any nation or region wide touring). If you're going to be unloading and loading nearly everyday for weeks or months at a time, a padded case just isn't going to protect your gear. I don't care how well you pack your trailor or how careful you are with your gear. There is a reason touring musicians get the live in cases. I know half my gear probably wouldn't be working right now if it didn't live in road cases while I was out and we had our packing tight and very methodical. If you're head is gonna be in the back of a van or you're only doing small trips/light touring you can get away with a padded case. If you're doing moderate/heavy touring with a trailor though, you'd just be delaying the inevitable with a padded case, IMO. In the scheme of things, 200-300 bucks on a good road case is a good deal when compared with amp repair shop bills or having to replace your $1k+ head.
