:help: I am trying to install a Hfs in bridge and Vintage in neck using 1 Volume, 1 Tone that is push pull, with a rotory 3 way and of course a output jsck.
Both pickup have Black, Red,White, mesh wraped around that is to be used as a ground? All I want to be able to do is cut the two slug coils of each pickup with the push pull.Is this the correct thing? The Duncan diagrams all show 4 wire and it messing me up!! I also am concerned about making sure the north south thing so I dont get to much Hum when coils get cut or tap? I read some where that the bridge and neck has to be switched meaning the neck black wire being + then bridge would have to be white+(thats also very confussing) Why cant everyone just use the GREAT Seymour's wiring!!! Lets start a movement to get some kind of uniformity!! Thanks you in advance:arms:

Re: Help with Older Prs Hfs and Vintage wiring and color codes

There is no "older" v. "newer".

PRS conductor colour codes have always been black, white, red, bare OR single con + braided shield (sometimes with a separate, plastic insulated wire for Coil Split operation).

I am sorry I was referring to the pickup being older!! I did recognizing the colors. I guess I will rephrase the question!

Ok I was just wondering if I had to switch the black and white, when wire bridge verses neck? The answer is No. I got the answer at another forum. Its that PRS diagram are hard to understand when you are used to Seymour Duncan, which I find very easy to understand. I was trying to understand how to use their three wire pickup and use Duncan's diagram. THANKS
I would still like to have some one walk through it that is the conversion(Like if Duncan's black the same as PRS black?) and so on.
