Re: help with removing pick scratches from my guitars finish please.

Sorry. I know that would be the right thing to do, but this is just way too much fun.

Re: help with removing pick scratches from my guitars finish please.

that finish is discontinued = lots of big box stores probably still have a few in the warehouse

i'll see if i can't find one for you

thank you,but its cool,i wont go out and buy another one over this...the used one's on ebay that i have seen are going for more than what i paid new for this one...i dont think your gonna find one though...the one i got this year was already hard to find.......the lesson here is no body appreciates your stuff better than you...so it was my mistake letting someone else play it...its no longer flawless..so maybe i will play it more..still cheeses me off though.

This thread= 1 part exactly what the OP was requesting, 9 parts question the OP's wishes to take care of his instrument...

Re: help with removing pick scratches from my guitars finish please.

Use the Viruoso Cleaner. That should remove most fine scratches. Might have to do a couple of treatments, if they are deep. Follow with the Virtuoso Polish. I've had EXCELLENT results with these products.

A coat of carnauba wax might be in order to help protect the finish. I like the Dunlop 65 or the Planet Waves on NCL finishes; and Gerlitz on poly-finished guitars.

Re: help with removing pick scratches from my guitars finish please.

what are the pick ups in the middle picture?...and are those s.d. pick ups black chrome?

Black nickle actually.. If you like the SD JB bridge and Jazz model neck, than this is the set for you. I just installed a set in my Les Paul and they hit like cement filled aluminum baseball bat and cut band mix like a GSXR 1000 through midday traffic. I personnally recommend them.:cool2:

Re: help with removing pick scratches from my guitars finish please.

I'm feeling a Spinal Tap type moment here - the bit where he shows off his mint Jaguar (or whatever it was) "don't touch it....in fact don't even look at it"

Scratches are a part of life, however well you look after your instrument. I use the Meguires Car Polish, which works well to buff out some of the small scratches. Pick related ones may not disappear entirely, but will look a bit better as long as you're not putting it under a microscope. From more than a foot away you'll see nothing

freaking sick axe..what finish is that?.transparent black?..at this time ,i havnt thought about a p.u. swap..on my ltd ...i kinda like the sound of it as it came....not to say i wont.

Re: help with removing pick scratches from my guitars finish please.

Inevitable.

Its like saying you don't want your car to get wet ever.

I hate to be the first person to make a imperfection on a new axe.....but it is inevitable.....thats why I buy a lot of used stuff.....so it is sort of reliced.

John, at Pilgrims Projects, got with Seymour Duncan and requested another Jazz model for the center. I'm not sure whether it was custom wound for the position or not. It balances well enough with the bridge pickup though.

Yes. The transparent black over flamed maple. I originally wanted a '97 Gibson Joe Perry.. but then, I couldn't see tearing a $3k guitar up gigging with it. I tested the Epi and Gibson side by side and after all was said and done, the Epi was a better choice for what I'm doing.
A pickup swap is the most dramatic change you can make to your guitar's sound. In the end, people won't really remember what axe you played -unless you're endorsed by some big name company. They won't remember if your guitar was flawless or had scratches in it. They rarely remember how you looked.. unless your stage presence was just that bad. But they WILL remember how you sounded... especially other musicians.
