Hello guys. I have a little problem. I want to change my pickup to Wilde L500XL which have coil split. And i have no idea how to wire it. My guitar :
2 pickups :
-neck Duncan Designed HB-103b
-bridge Wilde L500XL
L500XL have coil split duncan dont have
-3 way toggle switch
-1 volume
-1 tone <-- i want to use tone pot as "spin-a-split"
Can i do it with normal tone pot without buying a new one?
My biggest problem is wiring diagram. Can someone draw me how to connect it? I cant find diagram for this setup [2 humbuckers 1 volume 3way toggle switch and spin-a-split(tone) only for bridge pickup]
Wilde have other colors : (info from wilde site)
-White Wire -- Hot
-Black/Blue Wires -- Ground
-Red/Green Wires -- Twist together, insulate with shrink wrap or electrical tape for humbucking OR solder to either a push/pull or on/off switch for split coil.

Yes, you can do it with your existing tone pot. Give me a few minutes and I'll come up with something for you.

Help with wiring {2H 1V 3wS 1tone as spin-a-split <-- only for 1 pickup}

First of all, I forgot the most important part...

"Welcome to the forum!" :D

Okay... try this diagram out. Really the only thing you need to do is to remove the hot wire going to the existing tone control and remove the capacitor. Install the new pickup as shown, and connect it to the Spin-a-Split as shown. Some of your existing ground wires may not be in the places I've got them, and that's okay... just connect the ground from the pickup to the back of whichever pot is easier to use. Also, notice that there is a small wire going from the left lug of the Spin-a-Split to ground... make sure that one happens, otherwise you have Spin-a-Nothing!

Good luck, and let me know if I can help further! :fing2:

Thanks a lot great job. I have one more question. I have Jackson guitar and there is a small plate screwed in guitar body and some of ground is wired in it should i remove it and wire it like in your fantastic diagram or just ignore it and use it as groud (like it is now). I will send photo later when i will be in home.

No problem... Happy to help out!

Just stick with the ground as it is now. I basically took a guess at what the rest of your diagram was, so you should only worry about the pickup and the Spin-a-Split portions... leave everything else as it was.

One more question. In next month i will buy a neck pickup. How diagram should look to have coil split for both pickups?

Re: Help with wiring {2H 1V 3wS 1tone as spin-a-split <-- only for 1 pickup}

You won't be able to use the Spin-a-Split for both pickups. Assuming you don't want to get rid of your volume control too, if you want to split both pickups you're going to have to do one of five things:

  • Replace the volume with a push-pull pot and just switch the neck coil split on or off
  • Replace the Spin-a-Split with a push-pull pot, go back to having a tone control, and wire both splits to the attached DPDT switch
    • You could also leave the existing Spin-a-Split and just have the neck pickup split via the switch.
  • Drill a hole for a second Spin-a-Split
  • Drill a hole for a mini switch
