Help with wiring

Hello guys,

I am working on the following wiring:

https://guitarelectronics.com/productimage.php?product_id=2464

So far so good, but I don't like position three, so I was thinking about having position 3 to be just the Bridge Humbucker split to the North coil.
I understand how the split works but I am a little confused on how should I do it in this particular diagram and not to **** everything up.
I hope you guys can help me.

PUs are a Custom Custom for the bridge and a Little 59 for the Neck.

Thanks for your time!

Re: Help with wiring

I'm not going to mark up that ridiculously over-complicated rat's nest, but here's a new pinout for the 5WSS if you're interested:

Re: Help with wiring

Thank you very much for your response. Simplicity is always apreciated.
I have a question regarding position 3. Where does the red goes in this case? I don't see it there.

I have interpreted your solution and made a diagram. I hope it's not confusing, I just want to share it with you and get some feedback to see if I am in the right direction.
(Connections of the same cable are represented by the dots, so even tho two cables with the same color are crossing each other it doesn't mean they are connected)

Thanks again.

Re: Help with wiring

In position 3 the bridge pickup is wired so that the black is connected to hot, white is connected to ground and red is floating.

You'll need to orient my pinout against the physical switch to be sure the positions are correct. This won't be difficult if the contacts are visible, which will be the case when the lug locations in either of the drawings coincide with the lug locations on the physical switch.

My eyes are too old to make out what (to me) looks like a blurry diagram with certainty, but it looks to match up with what I provided.

In case it isn't clear, the yellow lines labeled as hot go to the input of the volume control.

Re: Help with wiring

No worries. I think everything is clear to me now. This will be my first wiring so I have studied the theory thoroughly. I prefer what you provided to me cause its much more simple than the one from guitarelectronics.
I may start today with the wiring so, wish me luck :)

Just one more question. Let say I wire something incorrectly. Any chance of damaging the PUs ?

Thanks for your time.

Re: Help with wiring

You're quite welcome.

You can inadvertently touch the side your iron to the cable which is normally not a big deal other than a sign of sloppy work. You could damage the cable by pinching it somewhere, but you're not going to damage the pickup by connecting something up incorrectly.

Re: Help with wiring

That is sort of an interesting wiring. Make sure you come back and let us know how you like it!

Re: Help with wiring

Hello guys,

So I have finished the wiring. It turned out pretty good to be my first one but I don't seem to get any output from the middle position. Just the hum. I checked all the joints and they look OK to me.
The middle position would be the bridge humbucker split to the north coil so I guess the hum is normal, but no output whatsoever. All the other positions work as expected.

Any ideas ?

Thanks again!
