Help with Wiring!

I am as dumb as they come when it comes to understanding wiring, so hopefully someone here can help.

I have a 5-way switch (with 8 hook up terminals) and I want to have the following configuration using a single volume knob. I have a Custom Custom for the bridge and Pearly Gates for the neck.

POS 1 : Bridge HUM
POS 2 : Bridge single (split)
POS 3 : Bridge and Neck singles
POS 4 : Neck single (split)
POS 5 : Neck HUM

Not sure if I can do this with the switch that I have. I've seen schematics on the Seymour Duncan site and others, but can't seem to find something like this.

Any help (drawings) appreciated.

I rewired my PRS CU24 to the McCarty wiring by converting the not-so-user-friendly PRS 5-way rotary switch to a gibson 3-way toggle, plus push-pull pot for coil tap. Works a treat, but if you have a 5-way blade select switch then maybe this won't fit in with your guitar design.

Well, to avoid confusion, I think I'm going to order a 4-Pole switch. Seems to be the easiest thing to do.

You'll need a Superswitch to get that sequence. I believe a Megaswitch might do it also, but I've never played with one of those.

Thats a pretty cool diagram. I haven't seen that exact one before. Just keep in mind that the middle position will be the split coils in series, rather than parallel. It'll be like a wide humbucker rather then the Strat "notch" tone.

But its still a cool diagram. Thanks for sharing that.

Yes, that's what I wanted! Actually the Custom Custom and Pearly Gates split do not even come close to single coil sound. But they are still ok and get me a different tone.

I got the diagram from a post on the Carvin website, and it works! Incredible.

Hello Al, I'm trying to switch over to the McCarty style wiring setup in my Ibanez SZ520, so that I can regain my master volume in the middle pos. etc... But I'm finding conflicting wiring diagrams online. ex: guitarelectronics.com to PRS.com - This is a big request to ask... but do you have any photos of your control cavity? And if so, would you or anyone else out there please be so kind to share it with me? Or a definate SD wiring diagram for the McCarty. One is not listed here as far as I can tell. Thank's so much... I just purchased a RS guitar works pre-wired McCarty style harness... It comes with a very detailed diagram... which is want I needed. Have not had an opportunity to install it yet. I will post the results...

The RS pre-wired PRS McCarty harness works great.... comes with a very detailed wiring diagram also. But now I want a blend control also... And I thought that the McCarty was hard to find! Ha! If I can figure it out it would be a great combo of the PRS McCarty wiring and the original SZ520 wiring.
