alright I need help with buying a new or used amp and I'm kinda stuck right now. I have 160 bucks. what are some amps that can play stuff like metallica to foo fighters?

Marshall Valvestate or MG. Turn the gain and high down a bit and the mids up. Also possibly Carvin SX. Solid state stuff, but very usable. These are of course prices your find on CL or reverb.com

For that money I would look at the Mustang II from Fender. It would do what you want... but save up to $300-$350 and look for Peavey Classic 30s or Peavey Delta Blues. I bought a Delta Blues 210 a couple years back for $275 and shipping. Either will be a killer workhorse amp and last a lifetime. I have a friend who has used the same Classic 30 for 18 years.

here ya go - jump on it. nice condish. does metallica with ease. nicely priced and within your range, both monetarily and geographically. could be a bedroom rocker or with a band.

You seriously can't go wrong with a Valvestate. If they were good enough for Chuck Schuldiner to use, then they should be good enough for what you want to do, no problem.
