Re: help...

I always like the production of that guys videos -nice guitar -but here are a couple of thoughts.

One -He's got great "tone" fingers, and 8,000 dollars worth of processing between his JHS neve pre pedal, his Mesa Amp, his recording mic, and his Focusrite Pre (if I remember correctly), and Protools plugs -so if you love this guitar, which to me -it's a great sounding LP -beware that 90% of the sound you like is those fingers/ear, Lawler pickups and his great downstream chain -not the guitar's detail and accoutrements -so don't lose your mind on the guitar construction delivering that sound.

Two- My experience with Eastman (like most importers and Gibson lol) can be hit or miss -looks like he got a good one -I've seen the opposite of the this as several times -that said, most of the rough Eastmans can be improved if it's not a dimensional sizing/fitting issue.

Three- He never mentions the mismatched book match tiger maple top (see comment above) . -many buyers spending $1,500.00 would want at least a slightly better match -he's had it a month and doesn't notice it? Nah, more likely, he's doing a solid for the free Eastman guitar -plus book matching is purely aesthetic so maybe he doesn't care? considering he only holds the guitar in a position where you can see it a few times and for very short durations, I'd say he's trying to keep that out of the main narrative but also inform the detailed viewer for some disclosure.

Four, -minor but before the video got past 20 seconds, I already knew it was handmade from all the imperfections in the contours of the tiger maple top (look at :07 to :22) -not a big deal and a lot of it may be the thin antique style finish making it more noticeable , but there sure are a lot of them compared to regular handmade Luthiers LP where there are enough to know it's handmade, but not as many non intended waves like this guitar, but hey it's handmade and Chinese and a good deal -and this would not affect my purchase decision.

Overall, a very rad guitar, I just thought the review didn't mention the very few negatives or purchase details that a detailed buying might need to consider.

I checked, and these guitars can be had for 1200.00 to 1600.00 -so that's pretty awesome -and the sweet spot for a professional player to use at gigs.

I really don't understand it. I make a guitar by hand as well, same timbers, similar finish, same parts. I sell them for 2200USD all in, this chinese guitar goes for 1600-2200 depending on the shop (there is some unclarity, some are the hand varnished ,the others are nitro). it's really, REALLY frustrating to see that those are going like hot cakes but mine aren't.

handmade, 5 piece purpleheart/zebrano neck, custom seymour duncans, hipshot parts, hand varnished, hand buffed, hand carved yada yada.

Perhaps I should just call it quits.

I’m not sure I have an answer for you but that guitar is stunning.

First of all - SWEET @$$ LP style!!!!!

Second - maybe it's marketing? Like don't take pics of the guitar on a couch?

Third - Rock is dead - NO guitars are selling like hotcakes anymore...

Re: help...

Questioning buying a guitar and yet you don't call me about it. :) :) :) I told you to get a really nice Dean Z. :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Marketing: perhaps. You are right about your second point. Frankly, I'm better in making the guitars than photographing them. Would you mind lending your (fairly) unbiassed eye to some of the ideas I had for making photo's? More importantly, the staging of the guitars?

About 3#: not true. I'm seeing this at work, we're selling like crazy, we're expanding like never before. The market for higher end, handcrafted guitars doesn't seem to settle at all, it's always rising.

About #1: thanks :) It's one of my favorites ever cause it's purple, got a trem, nice top, dual humbuckers and sounds INSANE. The pups are an SH12/SH6N Hybrid Alnico 8 in bridge and a Seth lover/Jazz hybrid Alnico IV. it has one coil tap under a push pull pot (but I'm thinking of giving this a 6 way switch so I can get all the tones I want out of this cause all the split tones are beautiful). It does everything amazing. Only thing I don't like? Zebrano. Zebrano is.... ieuw. Never again.

Re: help...

I understand this feeling. A few months ago when I got my Vantage X-88 and the Jumbo J-200 Aria copy I promised myself that I won't buy any guitar for one year...

But now I am in the process of starting a new band which is up to now only duo with a muscular drummer who likes only metal and extreme low tunings. He's Keith Merrow fan.
I have many guitars but here only my PRS 277 bari qualifies, but then it is soapbars boosted into the Marshall with a TS808.

As I am working on this project it became clear I need a 26"5 seven string guitar : the PRS SE sVn (the red one) with a 7 string Black Winter set !!!

So yes Aceman get the BC Rich !

So only question that matters here is do we sell some of our guitars to finance the new purchase or do we keep stacking ?
