Hi ...

I have a washburn x50proq that is eqipped with SD humbuckers - SH-11 Custom Custom in the bridge and 59` reissue on the neck . when i play on the e ,B, G strings i get like a weaker sound than on the 3 low strings (E,A,D). also the sustaine on this strings (e ,B & G) is pretty weak .. and when I play legato runs when i'm not picking the stirngs the sound is weak..

any ideas what could be the problem ?

I hope you understand my poor english..and thanks in advanced !

Re: help..

Its sounds like you need to adjust your pickup height. Raise the E,B,G side of the pickup so it closer to the strings.

Re: help..

tnx ... but how do i raise the pickups ? with the 2 screws on each side or with the 6 that are on the pickup ? what should be the distance between the strings and the pickups ?

Re: help..

Try using the 2 screws on the mounting ring first. This will more than likely fix your problem.

As far as the distance, it really depends on personal taste. Check your Washburn's manual if you have it for reccomended settings. Most people set them anywhere from 1/16" to 3/16" from the bottom of the string to the top of the pickup poles, but the best advice is use your ears. Lowering the pickup will make the sound warmer and less powerful. Raising it closer to the strings makes it sound more powerful and with more presence.

Hope this helps!

Re: help..

well .. i raised the pickups until the sound started to sound very bad(it was way to close to the strings..) .. but i didn't get any sustain improvment.. the sound in some cases was louder but the sustaine was still pretty weak .. any more suggestions ?

Re: help..

Too many possible factors... it could be pickup height, it could juwst as well be that the action on the treble strings is so low that they choke instead of sustaining.... hard to say without the axe in hand....

Re: help..

How do those strings sustain unplugged compared to the bass strings? If they sustain much less then its a guitar setup problem. Trying raising the action on the three strings you mention and oil all the contact points of the strings.

Re: help..

well i think that the sustaine is preety much the same ... i played with the pickups again and I changed the strings , but it didnt do no good. .
can any of you give me tips on how to improve my guitar setup ? i dont have time to go to the store...again .

heres a litle recored of the guitar to demonstrate the sustaine :
