Hendrix Flying V

Re: Hendrix Flying V

I have the Jimi hendrix: the D*ck Cavett show dvd. He plays a SC with 3 humbuckers in it. different tone than one would expect out of hendrix, but cool nonetheless.

Re: Hendrix Flying V

he meant gibson SG

but im pickin up a Fulltone 70.....im not looking to nail jimis tone, but i just want a fuzz that is not overly grainy (warm) and with TONs of sustain......and also a little versatility...........so i think the 70' pedal is right for me, plus i really dig the soundclips ive heard

Re: Hendrix Flying V

The '70 sounds great with humbuckers. Its kinda tweaky at first. I set mine with the internal trimmer just a little counter-clockwise, and with the volume @ 2, mids @ 3, and fuzz @ about 4. Experiment with it, and be patient. Its worth the time.

Re: Hendrix Flying V

what about with single coils? i would be using it with humbuckers also, but primarily my strat.....and into an ole twin reverb

Re: Hendrix Flying V

It does well with those also. The Fulltone mp3 is his strat > '70 > 100 watt plexi Marshall. He mentioned to me that is was really loud and bassy. I think I like it with humbuckers because its really tight sounding, not a lot of muddiness at all, and the neck tone is to die for.

Actually, I think the tone with humbuckers might be in the EJ zone, now that I think about it. After all, the '70 was based on one of EJ's boxes.
