Hendrix Monterey Strat

i have been watching the new remastered/expanded DVD of Jimi Hendrix Live At Monterey a lot this week.... and there is a new book out by Jimi's sister on Hendrix... in the book they show photos of the smashed pieces of the Monterey strat that were said to of been found by collectors... only trouble is the the pieces in the book said to be the Monterey strat have the back of the guitar painted white with a poem or something written on it... In the dvd of Wild Thing before Jimi burns and smashes the guitar he flips the guitar and plays behind his back a while and you can see the back of the axe is stock red paint...

could these pieces be fakes.... if so did Fender base the repro on those pieces....

They're 2 different guitars. Check this out to see photos of fragments from both guitar's. I would've simply linked the images but you can't "lift" them from the site.

I've always liked the Saville Theatre guitar best actually. Hope this helps ya.

A Monterey look alike would be a neat project especially since the Fender version is kind of hard to get. Love the white on red.
