It is back in my roastar with the Jazz in neck and it total happiness .
Clear as crystal like the Jazz , you can play fast and every note can be heard,
The notes are full , round , defined , it doesn't buzz like Custom or DD .
Strong lows and low mids , natural and strong mids , singing or biting highs depending on pick attack ; very balanced EQ .
I could compare it ( EQ wise )to a Tone Zone but with clarity , no mud and more high and natural harmonics .
This kind of pickup allow you you reach every kind of sound in clarity if you work on the EQ before the preamp ; cut a bit of lows , push a bit the high mids and it sing like the JB played on "blow by blow" .
Such an expressive pickup , but it won't forgive the messy player .
Demon and Jazz are ultimate pickup !!!

It could do Van Halen but maybe not plugged straight into amp , it need to be push in the mids to get this kind of "brown sound " .
For EVH you would be better with a Custom2 , but it is a more specialised p-u .

While the Screamin Demon doesn't sound anything like a Tone Zone(at least to my ears) it is a really slick pickup. Very clear....like a hi-fi version of a PAF type tone. It's got a nice growl in the lower mids.
