Replace your worn out hex pole pieces or upgrade your standard fillister style screws for tighter response and enhanced attack!

These fit standard Seymour Duncan bobbins perfectly...no need to enlarge the holes or mess with the threads!

  • Genuine YFS brand, same as current Seymour Duncan OEM!
  • 5/8" length is ideal for optimum performance
  • #5-40 thread fits Seymour Duncan and several others (Gibson, DiMarzio, etc)**
  • Plain carbon steel for most efficient transfer of magnetic energy
  • Standard black oxide finish
  • Adjusts with common 3/32" hex wrench
**Note: These will NOT fit SD Invader models or the older DiMarzio designs that use larger, 10-32 headless set-screws (i.e. Super Distortion, Super II/III, original Evolution, etc)

PRICE: $5 per 6 pieces + $3.00 flat rate shipping, regardless of how many you buy!

U.S. only at this time. Paypal preferred

These still avail? How would they alter the tone over normal screws?

Re: HEX Pole Pieces for Seymour Duncan and Others!

Yes, still available!

These will tighten and slightly brighten up the sound over traditional fillister screws :)

Re: HEX Pole Pieces for Seymour Duncan and Others!

They screw right in with no mods? Just checking.. Thanks

Really? It's not like these things wear out.... They're not moving parts, ya know.

Yes, they are the exact same thread as the stock Duncan fillister and hex poles, so they screw right in. The only Duncan these won't fit is the Invader, which uses a much larger thread size.

I made these available primarily for those who like to mod or tweak their pickups, but they are also a nice aesthetic upgrade if you have old, rusted hex poles in your Full Shred, Demon, etc :)

Hey Masta . . . how might these affect the tone of Duncan Designed covered 59's? If at all.

I bought a couple sets of these from him The bass is reduced/tightened up, the treble has more presence and the pick attack is more pronounced. I feel that it slightly hollows out the overall tone. The difference these make on the tone is greater than what little a humbucker cover does so if your cover dulls the high end a tiny bit, these screws will change the tone more than that difference and wont simply bring balance back. They aren’t that subtle. It’s pretty noticeable. I think the 5/8 length influences the sound the most. I want to cut one set down to humbucker thickness to see what happens if I stagger them at different lengths depending on the string and it’s needs. I think everybody should have a set of these just to tweak a pickup that just isn’t quite there.

Well said!

In general, these hex poles will make an existing pickup slightly "tighter and brighter".

They are really great for reeling in a boomy or loose bottom end or improving presence and attack for added clarity.

Swapping to hex poles won't turn a '59 into an entirely new pickup, for example, but the change in response is certainly noticeable as Bowtomecha mentioned.

Note: The 5/8" length of these is ideal for most pickups. Shortening the hex poles further will increase the tonal effects even more.
