Frito's Better Half
Hey man, do you think you have the know how, or is it even possible, to maybe mod my Dano Honeytone so that I can get a better overdrive? I know it's kinda far fetched, but since I've had this thing for years, and I use it all the time, I wouldnt mind a better od. And for only 1 watt, these things get LOUD!!!.

See *my* reply in Pup Shoppe. Dude, are your serious? I would think that a clean tone from the HT would be a better goal ... Strangely though I do share your rather novel sense of ... ... Yeah, I know it's only a little piece of crap, and that it's made to be just something to plug into to ... But can it be made better ...? ... Best guess yes, but not by much ... I would guess (from not having seen the schematic) that a better speaker (and they do exist) that didn't break up, and weighting the cabinet down for better projection and vibration control would enhance both clean and dirty sounds ... heck you might even try opening the back (might help with bass response). The circuit itself, could probably be improved by better filtering of the OD sound, and more gain; and a choice of more presence or a mid cut for the clean might help the clean. Now as far as overall volume, well you'd have to replace the output transitors for that, probably bump the power supply up to 18Vdc ... which would improve the clean headroom as well.
I just realized, I need my head examined ... I talking about modding a 9VDC powered, belt clipped travel amp with a 2.5" speaker ... :saeek: :yell: :smack: :yell: :saeek:

BD....Don't know? I mean you could send it to me and let me look at the circuit...Some of those Dano pedals are pretty cheesy though...I did one for another forum member...I Made it better but it's still cheesy...Why not get a good pedal and work with that?
