Hello,
Been reading up on your "ultimate strat tone" I asked you earlier about the trem thing. I wanted to ask exactly how I would go about measuring the weight of that accurately & if I should weigh it with the whammy bar attached or not. I'm gathering you got the 375 grams / 320 grams by leaving the bar & the springs off...did you leave the 6 front screws off too? Is there a certain device I should ask my guitar shop about(to weigh it)? When I take it off do I undo the sorings & unscre those 6 front screws & thats it...it'll come right off? If you have time to answer.

thanks!!

Re: Hey Lew!

I weighed mine without the springs, without the trem arm and without the six wood screws that hold it to the body. So just the tremolo block, baseplate and six saddles. You know there's nothing wrong with the tone of those that weigh only 325 grams or so...it's just that heavier ones sound a little deeper to me. My '88 MIJ Squire is one of my favorite sounding guitars and for years I played it with the stock 325 gram MIJ vibrato. I only got around to changing it to the '62 RI tremolo this year. The guitar doesn't sound any livlier or more inspiring with the heavier '62 RI trem...it sounds about the same but the bass response is deeper and more solid.
