Hi Jeremy,

Was the Phat Cat designed with 250K or 500K pots in mind?

Thanks,
Jim :cool2:

dont know but i use 500k and they sound great!! since i put the pgn and phat cat in, that guitar has been getting lots of use

Re: HeyJeremy! Phat Cat Pots?

Go with 500k. As the name implies, they are definitely "phat" -- noticeably beefier than your typical P90 to my ear -- especially the neck model. 250k pots might degrade them from phat to muddy.

I use a Phat Cat neck pup with the stock 250K vol pot and 250K no-load Deltatone ton pot in an ash Tele with rosewood board, and it sounds great -- plenty of lows, mids, and highs. When I asked Billy Gill about this, he said the 250K pots would be fine, and as far as I can tell he was right.

I changed from a 250K to a 500K, then to a 330K- special audio taper (Angelina Electronics)

Love it!

All had good tone and blazing drive / sustain.
