Hi guys & gals. I need opinions on a pickup selection.

I have a 1968 Epiphone Casino (yeah, that one again!) with a JB in the bridge (thanks for the info everyone!) but another JB in the neck. I am going to replace the neck JB but I can't decide between two pickups.

The first choice is an Antiquity which I've heard is great in hollow bodies and we all know its reputation.

My second choice is to put back the original 1968 P-90, which I haven't heard in over 14 or 15 years and quite frankly, I had a crappy ear for tone back then. If it distorted, I liked it.

My musical style by the way is hard rock (old Zeppelin, old Aerosmith), metal (Priest, Maiden) to progressive (Rush, Yes, Dream Theatre) and some new stuff. What I want out of this pickup is something that mixes well with the JB for the middle position on the switch, and fat and warm by itself for bluesy overdriven leads and clean chord picking. Can it be done by either pickup  Help me out!!!!

Thanks to everyone in advance as I've gotta run. :alcoholic

Dude, get a Jazz. Jazz JB is a fine combo, and the jazz will be amazing for the prog rock and anything else that needs to be clean picked, plus it does have a nice sound when driven.

Hi everyone--

Thanks for the opinions on these great pickups, but I already have the two pickups that I mentioned and I can't spend anymore cash since I impulse bought a Fender Celtic Esquire blem from MF. That's where the JB from the Casino is slated to go.

Is anyone familiar with the sound of an original late 60's P-90 for the neck in a hollowbody like this? How 'bout the Antiquity.

Thanks again

I am sure the P/u's you have are fine but you may want to consider getting on the trading post part of the forum and see if you can trade for a Jazz - the jb/jazz combo would definitely do what your looking for - than you're still not out any cash. Just a thought.
