Hi Guys.
I just refret my MIJ strat, the frets is wear so the action have to set quiet high. With the new frets and lower action ,the strat somehow less compressed and sing better. Dunno if anyone experience this. What do you think???

With lower action its easier to get the clink of the string hitting the fretboard when you pick hard. Could explain the lesser compression because its easier to get the articulation going, rather than the high string ringing out the same amount every time.

I usually find the opposite!
The new frets will allow it to sound less compressed even with lower action.
Higher action normally will let the strings ring out with a less compressed sound.
Your problem before sounds like it was your frets.

Long sustain, long bloomy sound on one hand and warm, sparkly, woody sound are really on two ends of the spectrum. People seem to think that changes can just make the guitar sound "good" or "bad". But fact is that many things that make it sound better in the "natural sound" sense shorten sustain and give you less control.

Apart from from neck angle/bridge issue there's also the question of heavy versus light tuners, heavy versus light tailpiece or tremolo block and a whole bunch of others.

Myself, I find myself drifting towards the longer sounds.

Actually iam trying to focus on higher/lower action effecting sound with the same guitar without changing anything, just the action. Higher action is kinda rounded attack thats why i describe it as compressed and lower is less rounded. I also experience with acoustic guitar.

Re: high action=compressed sound????

I'm not quite sure about your terms, but obviously higher action has less string pull, therefore more sustain, if that's what you call "compression".

Buddy Whittington is an example of one player who uses high action and 11s on his strat to get his singing sustain.

This is what I was going to say.
