Just wondering. What, in your opinion, is the electric guitar/bass equivalent of the proverbial ashtray on a motorcycle?

A kickstand ? Rear-view mirror ?

My first thought was actually "in some cases, the player".

Re: High, pathetic Al: Bigsby for bass guitar?

Didn't some Steinberger L series instruments come with an attachment very like a kickstand?

EDIT - Which custom shop makes the best gig bag?

Re: High, pathetic Al: Bigsby for bass guitar?

I have better questions...

Which custom shop uses the best alloy for its screws?
Which custom shop uses the best decal logos?
What is best, bone nut or ivory nut?
Does chrome sound better than nickel plating?
Do metric parts vs imperial parts have different tones? And if so, what is the best?
Do medium frets have better tone than jumbo frets?

Having just looked at Zerb's "I am NOT associated with Zerberus Guitars!!!" thread, I am contemplating the tonal properties of ground, compressed virgin.

It's there to give the guitar something like a normal bottom "side" so that you can pay it in a seated position.

The Guild Thunderbird had a hinged arm in the back that could fold out and support the guitar so it stood up by itself. Even closer to a kick stand.
