Hello users!

I'm here cause I want to change my neck pickup on my ESP Horizon (alder body, mapple top, ebony fingerboard so you know).
The guitar came stock with a JB in the bridge and a '59 in the neck. I already changed the JB and put a TB6 instead (I'm a massive fan of this pickup).
The '59 sounds good but I always wanted something less vintage for the neck position. Something warm, ok but with higher output. I want still a good clean tone of course but I'm a lead-on-the-neck-pup guy that way a big sound from it. To describe what I want, I'd say something that "link" more the notes the ones with the others while playing leads.

I actually already asked the question before and some people told me to test the SH6 in the neck and I did it cause I love it the bridge but in the end I didn't like it. So can you name another one that would do the job better?

I think whoever you previously asked meant the Distortion (SH-6) NECK model in the neck. You are aware there are two different SH-6 models, right?

Sounds like you want a Dimarzio Liquifire in the neck.

Either the Duncan Distortion Neck or the Black Winter Neck. The Black Winter I would suggest first.

I love the Duncan Distortion neck. It's nice and creamy. I think it would be a good match for you.

Dimarzio Air Norton or the Liquifire. Both are higher output neck pickups for soloing and 'creamy' leads. I'm a dyed in the wool Duncan fan but when I think higher output neck humbuckers for leadwork Dimarzio is probably the path you want.

Thanks for all your answers but I may be didn't explain it the way it had: Due to my previous post months ago I actually BOUGHT a SH6 neck and place it my guitar and I didn't like it. I was looking for something high output for the neck position but the distortion in the neck is may be to much for my taste.

So the purpose of my question was to find something hotter but in between.
I'm a bit surprised to listen all the dimarzio answers, I'm not a dimarzion fan, I wanted to stay first with a 100% duncan configuration.

The Demon would certainly be in between the 59 and the dist, probably a little closer to the 59.

I was on the jackson website and I noticed that the warrior models (which are monsters of metal instruments) come stock with an invader in the bridge and a full shred in the neck. Anyone has an experience with the sh10 in the neck?

If thats the case than I would recommend maybe a Alnico 2 pro in the neck or a PATB-3 blues model in the neck. Their are people who even use the JB in the neck with great results but not sure how great the cleans would be.

If you still have the DDn or JB put it in the neck spot and wire it in parallel............try it, trust me!

Have you tried mag swapping the neck pickup? A UOA5 or A4 will probably do the trick.

Try a 59 bridge model in the neck. Or maybe a Pearly Gates Plus bridge.

I like the DiMarzio Breed neck pickup in my Jackson Dinky with a 24 fret neck and alder body. My thought process was to use a pickup designed for that particular scenario and it doesn't disappoint. It is a little more vintage voiced than an Evolution, but it has a nice fat sound.

It's a good pickup in the neck. Less bassy, less trebly, more meaty than '59. My fave pickup in the neck along with Demon.

Anyone has an experience with the sh10 in the neck?

The full shred neck is very clear and clean with fairly low output, its a little to bright or harsh for some. Its super articulate with great not separation.

Personally I love the full shred in the neck position with a distortion bridge. if its a 24 fret go with the liquifier though, its just what you want.
