higher output?

I 'm planning on putting a APH1/CC combination in my guitar, but i 've read that the CC has a higher output than the APH1, so my question is: if I 'm playing a song and in the middle of the song I switch from the APH1 to the CC, will my guitar sound louder? ( I know this is a stupid question, but I 've been thinking 'bout it all night :blackeye: )

It might, depending on how you set your pickup heights. I have the same set in a Carvin and it works wonderfully. The CC is wound hotter than the APH, but it helps to balance out the bridge position's tendency to be quieter and thinner than the neck position, due to the decreased string excursion when you pick.

I just installed this combo in my Ibanez AX320 and there is a little volume difference between the two but nothing that couldn't be conquered by adjusting the pickup height or rolling the volume down a bit. It's not nearly as noticeable as the difference between the JB & 59n.

It really depends... I have a CC/Seth combo in one of my guitars, and when I switch from the bridge to the middle position, it actually seems to LOSE volume, but it sounds more full (perhaps the highs aren't quite as pronounced, so it seems like a lower volume because I can't hear it as well).

The string moves alot less near the bridge than it does near the fingerboard. So bridge pickups need to be wound much hotter in order to equalize the perceived volume between the neck and bridge pickup.

Also, the perceived volume always seems to drop a little when the neck and bridge pickups are combined.

Frequencies are cancelled out when the two are combined and that makes the perceived volume drop and the tone seem less overdriven and cleaner.

If you are playing with a lot of gain, the volume won't change so much as the amount of distortion.
