Highway 1 guitars

Re: Highway 1 guitars

If you like it, get it. It seems to me like some are great, some are so so. There was a red Strat that I tried that I loved.

Re: Highway 1 guitars

Do the H1 Series have the rolled fret edges as the American Series guitars do?

Re: Highway 1 guitars

I own a Hw1 Strat and i can tell you now the finish does make a difference. Unplugged its louder and sustains longer then any otha guitar ive played. After Putting Graphtech saddels and dimarzios on it its great. The nut is a bitch though to really use the tremolo i have to lubricate it after every string change im planning on buying a pre slotted graphtech nut and getting a tech to install it then itll be perfect.

The web site does not say and the handbooks do not say either but My telecaster does have a rolled edge...in fact these are the SAME necks as an American Standar they just don't have micro tilt (the neck is set up for it, just not the body)

Re: Highway 1 guitars

I love my HWY 1 Tele. Like some other folks said, Im changing the p/u's. If you like having a blemish-free guitar, look elsewhere. My tele is already shedding paint where my forearm rubbs the body. But if you love the look of a well worn guitar like I do, you will love these things.

Re: Highway 1 guitars

If I'm not mistaken, I believe that you can make the HW1 guitars H/S/H, because of the routing.

Yes the Strats DO have a H/S/H route...the Teles have a traditional 50's route

Every Hwy 1 I have seen is routed HSS.

Re: Highway 1 guitars

It probably is my first candidate for a new strat. I'd change the thing to a wilkinson 2 point tho and make it HSS, but keep the rest the same way. Is the neck finished in nitro too?

Re: Highway 1 guitars

I like them, but for all the hype surrounding the nitro finish, I've played Poly finished USAs and AM Ash models that resonate much more, even through the plastic. Having a nitro finish on a tone turd won't make it nice, and even poly can't kill the resonance of a great piece of timber. It all still comes down to trying before you're buying.

Re: Highway 1 guitars

All I have to say is when I was shoping for a strat I was big into geting a H1. Ultimately I went with an american standard. I hear there are alot of nice H1's out there but if u get one make sure go where u can play a ton of them b4 you make a decision. I think there are alot of dogs out there. if i had to do it all over i would get a nice handpicked MIM and put some ssl-1's and a JB in the bridge and save a ton of cash. Richard

Re: Highway 1 guitars

I've got a tele in burst and I love the finish. It's the main reason i bought the guitar. I put a set of Duncans in there and it's golden.

Nice to see you again Scott. :friday:

+1 on the HWY1 line... they are the best looking Strat today IMHO. They feel great and sound really good (they are not an American Deluxe but still...).
