Well I'm not into aviation or anything, but apparently the inspiration behind it comes from a plane or jet called the Fokker. I also saw a brief comment somewhere that the color theme was also inspired by the plane.
Yeah, I must admit that the Friedman is my most anticipated purchase. However, I don't think there is anything in it being "the best." Diezel has not made a single bad sounding channel in any of their amps. Diezel literally hits a home run with everything they make and that's why I love their amps so much. Soldano, well his reputation proceeds him. I have played all of the Soldano amps at one point or another, owned a few, and they all sound incredibly good.
Notice that all of the amps I bought are relatively simple in features and operation. This is deliberate because I'm tired or fooling with things that I never use, and each of my amps will have a specific use which I think they're inclined to do by design. First, the Friedman gives me the most versatility and my basic tone for anything. The Diezel gives me that awesome liquid lead tone that Diezels are known for, plus a clean channel with higher headroom than the Friedman. Then the Soldano will give me the crunch sounds I want. It actually has a pretty fair amount of cleanish sounds, and goes high gain, but the array of crunch sounds is probably its strongest point. Not only that, they each give me a variety of my favorite tube types. The Friedman has EL34's, Diezel has the big bottles - KT77's, and the Soldano has 5881/6L6.
