as for talking more 'respectfully' .. no. i talk like that with everyone. no sense to make you an exeption (so dont think i hate you if i call you a crazy ass mother****er. i still like you. one of my best friends is an evil bastard LOL)

I could turn it around and say: just because you talk like that to everybody, it doesn't mean I should accept that you're talking that way to me ;)

I was looking at a Framus 2x12 cab, loaded with Celestion Vintage 30's, and I'm in doubt of how much that cab is able to handle.

Re: hmm, damn it!

No problem with a hundred watt amp. First you won't be running it at the full volume. Second, each V30 is 60 watts, so the cab total handling is 120 watts. Third, V30's can handle about anything you can throw at them and they like it loud.

Re: hmm, damn it!

Sune, if you have the money now, I strongly suggest you get the cab so you can familiarize yourself with your amp and guitar combo. Thinking about a Laney is useless if you don't even know how you are going to sound through the one you have now.

That Framus is fine. It will handle a 100 watter with ease and laugh at you while doing it. :D

Re: hmm, damn it!

Well, at least that is good news then. I'm still in a bit of a doubt though, I know it's rather stupid wanting another amp before you even heard the one you have, LOL, but I don't know.. I just like when things are new, and when there's guarantee on them etc. And when they are in absolutely perfect condition.

This would probably be the most logic thing, yes. I'm just afraid that even if I like the Marshall (which I'm almost sure I will), then I will still be gassing for a Laney.

You're gonna regret something thinking that way. Like it was said, you're going to need a cab with either one so why wait? Get the cab, play through the Marshall. If you like it great, you're set. If not, try out the Laney somewhere. If you like it and it suits you, sell the Marshall and get the Laney. If that Laney doesn't suit you, keep shopping until you do. But get the 2x12 first.

If you end up liking the Marshall, that Laney gas will be gone.

Well, I don't think it really is that simple. Because I think they produce very different tones, so both are good for each their own thing. But maybe I should just get that damn cab and get it over with. I don't know, I will think about it.

Don't think too long otherwise you'll end up with 2 amps and no cab to play either one through. Then what? It's like having a racing engine with no car. :D

No offense, but what is there to think about?? You are going to have to have speakers to play the guitar through an amp...period, end of story. The amp could be one of a thousand amps out there. You have to have speakers. You can waffle about amps until the cows come home but if you ain't got nothin' to play 'em through, what's the point??!! It's not that hard. :smack:

Yes, you are right all the way. I'm still just afraid that I would want that Laney even though I have my Marshall, and then it would take a 1000000000 years to save up for it. But of course, I could just play with my Marshall, until I one day can afford the Laney, and then I have both amps, for entirely different tones (it should give me a pretty wide range of tones to choose from)

Re: hmm, damn it!

OK, my last and best shot. Your heart is obviously on the Laney. IMO, they sound similar in nature and not that different. I don't think you'd get this huge variety of tones...again my opinion. Sell the Marshall, get the cab and save a few more $$ and get the Laney. You can always pick up another Marshall down the road. Gotta pick your priorities. We all go through this and you just have to decide what you REALLY want, (as you've discovered) and do what's necessary to get it. Dude, it would be driving me absolutely nuts to have an amp and no cab to play it through.........

Re: hmm, damn it!

Thank you. You, ErikH and Davey have been a big help. The rest is up to me.

Re: hmm, damn it!

Don't forget to play left handed and have half of your fingertips chopped off in a accident...then get the Laney...and an SG with P90's...oh and transplant his brain into yours :D

Like others said..get the cab...play the Marshall for a bit then make a decision...I haven't heard the Iommi amp, but I've owned laneys, and they are good, but nothing special IME/IMO. He also played Boogies for awhile and sounded the same...

Re: hmm, damn it!

everubody played marshalls at some point in time..and i'll be damned if you cant make it sound like you want to
