As some of you may know, I'm building guitars under my own name nowadays. Have been doing that for quite a while and finally, it's starting to pay off. I have been hired as a quality inspector at the European branch of Guild Guitars and here I've learned so much about setups, finishing, lacquer, buffing etc. I mean, I have to set up and buff 30 guitars a a day. That's 150 a week... So I decided to put my knew-found knowledge to good use and build me this.

nah, that's not true. I build this one last may, before Guild
but this guitar was, as fun as it was, a nice guitar but not really what I needed or wanted. It's the prototype of one of my lines, the ToneChaser Classic. It features a rosewood neck, ebony board and a slab mahogany body with a carved face (so no separate top).
But last week, I decided I had enough of it. I pulled out the neck (which is tough with a glued in neck!), I leveled the top, added a black korina top, routed for prails and bolted on the neck.
This is what emerged. The ToneChaser Standard Slimline Black Korina Edition (Tonechaser = name of body shape, Standard= top+back+humbuckers, slimline+thinner body).

It's interesting to see how little the tone has changed, unplugged. After all, korina is like mahogany. The only major difference, besides the pickups, is the fact that the neck is now bolted in instead of glued. There's more snap to the tone, more bite.
But, you guys choose. Which retop is more dramatic: this one, or this?
