I found one for about 645 dollars! Isn't this almost a steal at that price?? The seller says the reason why it's so cheap is because there's a little problem with the relay of the amp, but he says it can be fixed pretty cheap..is this true?

Re: holy ****! Engl Savage 120!

Please, I need help before this baby gets sold right in front of me... :blackeye:

Re: holy ****! Engl Savage 120!

if it's being sold for that cheap, ther's 2 things.

it's either that something is very wrong with it, or he really doesnt care how much it sellf for (reach kid bla bla)
i wouldnt know anything about the relay problem, but that is a VERY VERY good price

Re: holy ****! Engl Savage 120!

Well, the seller says the only problem is with the relay, and that's why he's selling it so cheap, he's not even auctioning it, I can buy it now for that price, but I won't unless I'm sure I can get it fixed.

Re: holy ****! Engl Savage 120!

If he has good feedback. Maybe.

IT IS a steal for that price.
However, buying faulty gear online isnt such a good idea.

As with all gear, arrange to pick it up if possible and test it all there and even pay him to take it to a tech.

Re: holy ****! Engl Savage 120!

Well, he only has positive comments... But the problem is I can't just try it before the "auction" ends..It ends tomorrow. But he doesn't live so far away, maybe I could talk to him about picking it up instead of getting it sent.

Re: holy ****! Engl Savage 120!

If it doesn't look too severe, I'd buy it and have it looked at by a tech, you'd still be making out well on the deal ;)

Re: holy ****! Engl Savage 120!

Buy it but only if he'll let you buy it in person. Go pick it up and make sure what he says is true, and then take it to a tech to look over.

645 is a ****ing amazing price for that!

That said, you might find the ENGL's to not cut through in a mix all that well. If you don't like it, though, sell it for insane profit!

Re: holy ****! Engl Savage 120!

Well, he writes that you can either get it send or come pick it up yourself. I have already talked to my parents about it, and they said that if people that knows about this stuff (you), says it's a good deal, then I could go for it. But I have asked him for pictures, and I've asked him if he have had it to a real tech.

Re: holy ****! Engl Savage 120!

Well, talked some more with him..he says he has a friend which is a electrician, and he said it was the relay which was the problem, but then I talked to the guy and asked him about details, and he says it's buzzing a bit and it has a problem, it's mixing the channels (something like that), that must mean that the channels are on simultaneously, what could this be ??

Re: holy ****! Engl Savage 120!

what relay is he talking about?

go and look it over in person, have the cash with you and if it's something you can fix., GET IT!

i think it's something that can be fixed easily when you get a real tech to look over it.. and if you dont like it then, you can sell it for twice that much easily

Re: holy ****! Engl Savage 120!

Well, I got some pictures of it, and it looks fine..I just don't have any knowledge about the technical side of these things, so I don't know what to do..He says he won't take it to a tech and get it looked over because it'll cost money, and then he could just as well get it fixed, so i really don't know what to do.

Re: holy ****! Engl Savage 120!

Well, I talked to him again, and he said that he could get it fixed, and then I could buy it for about 887$ instead, this is still cheap though, isn't it?

Re: holy ****! Engl Savage 120!

dude... engl amps cost from 1300 upwards. you have to kill to get a used one in the 1100 ballpark

i say tell him to get it fixed, offer 900$ and be happy (taking that it is a combo. which are even more expencive than head versions)

Re: holy ****! Engl Savage 120!

No, Davey, you're misunderstanding me, he OFFERED it for 887$, it's not a price I offered! So of course I won't bid more than that if he offered me the amp for that price ;-)

I need to borrow some money from my mom though, so she has to decide first if she wants to borrow it to me, and if she does, I'll buy it. I hope it doesn't get snatched before she decides.

And it isn't a combo, it is the head version actually. it is from 95, but does that matter ? Does it make it worth less? I'm not thinking about re-sale value, because I'll probably never sell this bastard anyway, just so I don't pay too much, which I have a feeling I won't,lol.

Re: holy ****! Engl Savage 120!

it's still a good price. no, i dont think that being 10 years old it makes it worth less.
good luck with getting it man

Re: holy ****! Engl Savage 120!

Thanks. I'll update this topic later..And we'll see if I get it or not.

Where did you get that from? Most ENGLs cut through like a knife through butter, including the Savage 120 :smack:

Well my experience is only with the Powerball, and I know other people who would agree with me... In alot of band settings, you have to turn up louder than usual to hear yourself, even with cranked mids.

Re: holy ****! Engl Savage 120!

The Powerball has indeed got a scooped voicing, but it can be overcome. The trouble with the PB is that it's very picky about it's cabs and you really need to crank the mids to cut through, compared to a Marshall. But you can't generalize this with the whole ENGL line
