Hi
Finally got the bridge pickup sound I wanted in my Bare Knuckle Holydiver. Essentially it is voiced quite like a JB but, I think, is more organic sounding and has great articulation and note separation. Anyway, the problem is what to put with it. The guitar is an alder-bodied hard-tailed Corgan strat so the middle and neck are a Chopper and BC-1.
As I quite like the Chopper (even if it is a bit on the agressive side) one option is to have a second Chopper in the neck. This would be a balanced if rather 1 dimensional, rock strat approach. I have to get rid of the BC-1 as I find it way too boomy and bass-heavy but I realise that if I go for something radically different between neck and middle (if I keep the Chopper) it could sound rather odd.
I didn't enjoy the set of SSL 6's that I had in a Charvel nor the QP. I think that maybe a pairing of the classic strat / vintage hot may work with the Holydiver. I have also been checking out the DiMarizo protrack & cruiser and dont really care for either!
Would appreciate any ideas on a mid /neck coupling that people think could work with my bridge HB. I would like a slightly more vintage tone with some evidence of strattiness (Is that a word??) but have avoided genuine s/c's (I did consider some Bare Knuckle irish tours) and would prefer a hum cancelling option.
Any ideas?
