Home brew Amp cab.. Beta version 1 (Pics)

I asked my Father If he could make me a Cabinet for my Home brew Amp. I emailed him some pics from Weber's site. He really liked the look of the Exotic woods. So I gave him my dimensions. He decided it would be best to make it out of some pine he had on hand 1st. Then he would mail it to me to make sure it fits. The wood in the front is a 1/4" veneer he got in his local Arts & Crafts store. The Guitar in front was his Idea. At 1st I wasn't crazy about it, But now it's growing on me. I'm thinking about maybe putting the Output tranny off to the side Instead of right next to the PT,So you could look in and see the tubes when there on?
Anybody know of a reason I can't/shouldn't do this? Well here it is, Beta 1.

Not bad for a first go. I like it. Can he maybe carve a strat on there?

I think thats pretty slick. Almost makes it look like an amp from the 40's or something. I assume you're going to do something with that front panel.

Tell your dad we approve. :)

I was thinking about something like crossed guitar's. Maybe 2 Strats or a LP & Strat?

The trannies are supposed to be separated from one another to avoid inducing noise. I also makes the head balance better, having one tranny on each side.

And make sure you mount that OT turned 90 degrees from the orientation of the PT; i.e. your PT's end bells are pointed sideways, so make sure the OT's are pointed back and front.

If you want to get even more particular about transformer placement, search for "headphone trick" on AX84.com.

Oh, and the cab looks cool. I like. What kind of amp is it?

Thanks:) It's a 2204 MV clone. I know enough that the Ot has to be 90 degrees. I'm basically copying my Laney Pro tube and other Marshall's Layouts. They all seem to have the PT in back of the filter caps, OT behind the power tubes and choke by the pre tubes? It makes sense to me to have your tranny on each side for balance reasons. I just wonder why Marshall,Laney etc. don't do it like that? I'm going to check out AX84.com Thanks for the link and Info.:smokin:

I've built amps with the OT and pt separated pretty far (Franklin) and then have them sitting right side by side in the Edana and both amps are stupid quiet. Put the OT where you want.
