Hope I like these pickups I ordered

I'm still experimenting with pickups for my Hendrix Strat. I've tried the SSl-1 SSL-5 combination. I've tried the Hot Stack Plus and Classic Stack Plus combination. Also have tried Dimarzio Area 67 with a Heavy Blues 2.

Not completely happy with any of them.

So I ordered a Lil' 59 for the bridge and a Lil' Screamin' Demon for the neck.

The 59 is supposed to inject your Strat with a little of the Les Paul sound (and I love Les Pauls), and the Screamin' Demon I used in the neck of both my Les Paul and Explorer and I loved it.

Love experimenting with pickups, especially on a Strat cuz working on Strats is so easy.

I hope Jimi won't be offended.

The Little 59 and Little Demon are good pickups, but they sound nothing like single coils. Maybe you just don't like the single coil sound? It certainly isn't for everyone, especially if you like heavier styles. I think you will dig the ones you eventually chose.

I am devoted to JH, a plain SSL-1 set is almost perfect for that sound, even if the SSL1s are a bit hotter than the ones he had, but, as Mincer said maybe you don't like single coil, that's absolutely fine, although I don't think you will have that 'edge' and that piano like bass to produce Jimi's crunch (and I think a standard Fuzz Face will be a bit overwhelmed by the HB output level).

just curious, what amp/rig are you using?

I'm not going after a single-coil sound. I'm not trying to duplicate Jimi's sound. I'm looking for more beef and chunk, good for heavier music. I'm playing through my POD X3.

What you chose should work well. If they aren't hot enough, go for the Hot Rails or JB Jr.
