HOT FOR P AND J BASS PICKUPS?

I'd like to outfit a Warmoth bass with Hot for P and Hot for J pups. I ordered a bass body out of Warmoth a while back with vintage P bass pups at the neck and a vintage J bass pup at the bridge slot. Now I'd like to do the same but plan for SD Hot for P/J bass pups.

Anyone own/play a bass with these pickups or ever hear them live? The Youtube clips are impressive. Hoping for a first hand review though.

First of all, I'd recommend going with a stacked-J to avoid the hum since a conventional J will only cancel one coil from the P pickup. Two of my former roommates had basses with the Hot P / Hot Stack J combo and it sounded pretty good as long as you're OK with the P being louder and the J mostly filling in the midrange. If you want a more balanced tone, Vintage P / Hot Stack J works better.

Wrote to Warmoth to see if they can accommodate the stacked J Bass pup(s). Their J Bass model allows for a chambered body but their P Bass body does not, so I might go with the J Bass body and take advantage of the chambered bass body. Hoping Warmoth can deal with the stacking.
We'll see....thanks for great information! They offer this for many of their guitars but I have not seen this feature offered for bass guitars yet.

The difference in height between the regular and stacked Jazz Bass pickups is negligable. Go for it!

Warmoth had no problems with the routs for my Tele bass: the tech who did the build said the routs were perfect.
