Hot Rails Neck in the Bridge Position?

I'm going to turn one of my Strats back into an S/S/S cofiguration.
It's currently H/S/H.

I have a Hot Rails neck pickup in a box. I did not like it in the neck, a little too dark and hot for what I wanted out of this guitar. It is a great metal or hard rock pickup in the neck though!

I am wondering if any of you guys have tried the HR Neck in the Bridge position?
I'll be pairing it with 2 Carvin AP-11's.

Worth a shot!
Should be "some" brighter just because of proximity, lesser wind...

Try it,Dude!!!
:D

edit:
Mebbe some kinda "skinny" switch would be in order,as well...

Re: Hot Rails Neck in the Bridge Position?

Others may have a different experience, but I did this exact thing and it was dark to my ears. Not only that, I bought a bridge Hot Rails for a Strat a few months ago and it was dark as well. I used a 500K pot with it. It's the only SD pickup I ever returned/swapped in 30 years of using SD pickups. I'm just not a fan of those Hot Rails.

You can always try it and see how it sounds with your setup.

Re: Hot Rails Neck in the Bridge Position?

You already have it, so it is worth trying! Add a switch to put it in parallel mode for a cleaner, clearer sound!

Re: Hot Rails Neck in the Bridge Position?

the neck hot rails in the bridge usually matches up fairly well with single coils, its worth a try. you may really like it

Re: Hot Rails Neck in the Bridge Position?

I'd say give it a go especially since you already have it! I love the Hotrails in the neck and mid with a JB in the bridge–definitely a darker sounding pickup but matched up to the JB very well IMO. Wish I had experience with one in the bridge to give some input there.

Thanks guys. I'll give it a shot this weekend and report back.
It's just sitting around, so I figure it can't hurt to try.
