so if i win the amp deal.. :laugh2:

im going for a hot rod deville 40watts...because i found its clean tone to be clearer than water.. :laugh2:
but since i also play dirty..im also thinkin about a marshall dsl401...

which one's louder?

also, i've heard dsl401's have overheating issues??what's this all about? :smack:

i have an MT-2 right now, and i like it so far..just have to try it in front of the hot rod now...but if i like the distortion i get from the MT-2, then i'll definitely buy the hot rod.
(just because the hot rod's cleans were to die for..lol) seriously..those cleans..marvelous..

I love my Hot Rod Deville.It's a better gig amp than anything I've used(I don't miss my Peavey)This amp wants to be loud.It's like owning an exotic sports car-It's wants to go fast.I agree with you on the cleans-It doesn't get much better

If the clean channel is so important to you deffinitely the hot rod. I have one hot rod deluxe and with a m-2 get good distortion.

I'm gonna guess the fender because 6l6 tubes run on higher voltage then the el34s.

But the DeVilles has way too much bottomend that cannot be dialed out unless using an extra eq.

The hot rod DeVille is really really loud for 40 watts, even moreso than the Marshall. But it des have alot of bottom end, like most of fender's tube amps i have come in contact with. All of which i loved i may add.

Fender seems to have a thing with too much bass, so just keep the bass level down and you'll be all set.

Anything over 3 rattles the entire house on my 1970 Vibrolux Reverb

DSL 401 overheating? im your man

theres no fan on the chassis, unlike every other valve amp, ever. this means the circuit board and front panel get stupidly hot after about an hour. it also means the solder joints don't last too long.

mine cooked itself, went back to the factory for 3 months though *sigh* it was worth it though. i love the way you can easily crank it up

Those amps are completely different. If you want big, clean sound then it's the Deville hands down.

i tried a bandmaster head out the other day with a big muff in front of it, the owner was always complaining about the boomy bottom end, but it was perfect for me. thinking of maybe investing in one.
