hot rodded '59?

Re: hot rodded '59?

I found the c5 to be brighter and bassier than the 59. I suggest either the Blues Saraceno model or the Custom.

Re: hot rodded '59?

That is almost the same thing, that's in my mind around these days!
After i tried so many different pickups, i think i'll go back again to the '59 and maybe using a booster.
What about a mid-booster, as it is used in some modded strats?
I noticed that the Custom has the tone, but not the "feel" of the '59. And also the Custom-5 didn't satisfied me - both pickups have a bit too much for this, what i'd like to have.

the Blues Saraceno model

That will be mabye my next try.

well, the 59 isn't givin me enough output, but i love the tone, so is there any way to modify the pickup to have more output & not alter the tone? And yes i know a pickup booster exists, but i'd rather not use one. Also, how much output can i expect from doing such modifications?

also, does a pickup like this already exist? I've heard the custom is kinda like a 59, and i know the lil 59 has more output, but i'm sure both are EQ'd differently.

If you're feeling really adventurous, you could grab some pickup wire from Stewmac and just add another 500 turns to each coil, or 1,000 to just one. that would get you to a about 9.1k (assuming you're talking the bridge model), which is about as far as you could go without significantly altering that 59 tone you like.
