Hot Rodded set and 5 switch selector - how do I route the whole thing?

Hi guys,

I bought a Hot Rodded set (SH2 and SH4) that I want to install on my guitar, but I've never done it before so I have a few questions.
My guitar is a Yamaha Pacifica 821 DX (http://images42.fotki.com/v1373/photos/9/911314/4490806/yamaha821dx-vi.jpg?1227830505), with a H-S-H configuration. The 5 switch selector currently selects the following combinations:

position 1: bridge humbucker
position 2: bridge humbucker split coil + single coil center
position 3: single coil center
position 4: neck humbucker split coil + single coil center
position 5: neck humbucker

With this new set I wanted instead to achieve the following combinations:

position 1: bridge humbucker
position 2: bridge humbucker split coil + neck humbucker split coil
position 3: bridge humbucker + neck humbucker
position 4: neck humbucker split coils (both) in parallel
position 5: neck humbucker

I have a normal "import" 5-way switch, and honestly from what I read on the web I understood close to nothing of how it works and the logic behind the connections.
Can anyone tell me whether the above setup can be achieved with the 5 switch selector (I have an ibanez that does, but it might be a different 5-switch selector), and if so how?
I also don't really know the meaning of the colors in the SD cables, where does each cable go/come from... :(

Thank you guys in advance for any help!

The wiring you described is not possible with an impoert 5 way switch. For that wiring you would need a superswitch which is a drag to install, they have 24 lugs to solder! I suggest a Megaswitch P model http://www.stewmac.com/How-To/Online_Resources/Pickups_and_Electronics/P-Model_Megaswitch.html

Good luck!

I kind of imagined so, thanks anyway!
I am kind of reluctant to change the switch for now, maybe at a later point...what configurations could I obtain with this normal switch?
The priority for me would be:
1: Bridge hb
2: Neck hb
3: Bridge coil split (inner coil) + Neck coil split (inner coil)
4: Bridge hb + Neck hb

Could these 4 be achieved? Or at least the first 3?

What about your middle pup? Don't you ever want to use it?

No, you can't get those combinations with your switch.

No, I don't care too much for it. I am sure I should be able to achieve at least a subset of these configurations!

You could try wiring it normally and remove the magnet from the middle sc

If you're just going to use the bridge and neck humbuckers, just use a three way selector switch and a p/p or separate toggle to get the split mode you want.

I'm not really a fan of push-pull coil splitting, really.
I would rather be interested in hearing what combinations, among the ones I wrote in the initial post, can be achieved with this switch.

you can get pretty close to this with the Ibanez 5 way inline but they're pretty tough to get hold of as theyre custom switches.

The only difference is position 4 would be neck parrallel.

Oh actually thats just for 2 humbuckers

Huh??

The "ones (you) wrote about in the initial post" DO involve coil splitting in positions 2 and 4.

I didn't say that I don't like coil splitting, I said that I don't like doing it with a push-pull knob ;-)

OK, I get it. That's fine. Instead of using a p/p, just substitute a toggle switch in its place...the connections are just the same.
