How about the battery?

Hi,

This is a technical questions about installing a pickup for an acoustic guitar Namely an SA-6 Mag-mic). I don't really like the idea of keeping a battery inside my guitar and the trouble of changing it.

It's obviously possible to extend the wiring so that the battery be outside the guitar, but I was wondering if that would affect the tone of the pickup?

Installing the pickup with the battery leads extended should not change the tone. A really good luthier should be able to install a battery compartment and output jack into the guitar making the mag-mic installation permanent.
