How are fender custom shop '54 pickups?

how do they sound in an ash body+maple board strat?
is it worth it to upgrade them to duncans?

They're good, especially for clean playing, but can be kinda bright.
I prefer Fender's Fat 50's.

I'll venture to say that you'd love the Twangbanger/2 Surfers or Surfer Custom bridge/2 Surfers.
