Hey guys, I'm interested in bidding on that for a project guitar, but I have no idea what kind of wood the body is made of. Kramer used alder, ash, and maple for these guitars, and I'd like to avoid getting anything with a maple body. Is anyone familiar enough with wood types to be able to tell based on this picture?

There's a paint chip that exposes the wood, maybe that'll give some clues? The seller did say that the guitar felt heavy to him, which would indicate ash or maple. But these guys don't really sell guitars too often, so if you're not used to them, any electric is going to feel heavy. Can anyone identify the wood type? Any help would be apprecited. Thanks.

Or go to that kramer message board. Do a search here on Kramer, cuz some1 posted a link recently. & ask those MoFos. They'll prolly hook u up.

WARNING:

That isnt the original neck plate look at VintageKramer.com. The neckplate on that guitar is circa 84-85 but the pointy headstock on the neck is late 80's.

Something has been done to that guitar....new neck or the entire guitar is later and the plate is replaced.

I'll post a photo of one with the proper neck so you can see what the gutiar SHOULD look like according to the guys at the Kramer site.

Yep, you're right. The guys on the Kramer board told me that it's a "parts mutt," and that the body is poplar. Definitely not what I was looking for.
