You know that rubberized stuff they put in pickup beds? How cool would that be instead of black tolex? Put about 3 coats of that textured stuff on an amp and it never have a tolex tear again!

Your vote counts!

Re: How cool would this be? Amp Covering Material Question

ha! Leave it to a Texan to try to make an amp more like a pick-up truck.

How 'bout a gun rack on the back & some steer horns on the top to use instead of a handle?

Re: How cool would this be? Amp Covering Material Question

Rhino Lining? Why not, I've seen a guy that coated his entire Jeep in that stuff instead of paint.

Re: How cool would this be? Amp Covering Material Question

Actually, the more I think about it the more I like it. Pretty cool idea IMO.

Re: How cool would this be? Amp Covering Material Question

dark blue!

Although I still want an amp cabinet dyed and clear finished like a nice guitar sometime.

Re: How cool would this be? Amp Covering Material Question

wow thats a cool idea! once im in college and if you make ur amp in head form, im definitely gonna get it! after you post clips of course.

i like them equal though, not the coating better than tolex. i just think tolex looks cool!

Re: How cool would this be? Amp Covering Material Question

Hmmm I've always wanted an amp covered in dark green tolex, but could never find any... maybe dark green Durabak is the answer! :D

:laugh2:

I think it'd be a great option. I don't know why Tolex is so popular.

I make no claims to when clips will be provided. I still feel too many factors in releasing clips. You can bogus up a clip to make the amp sound darn near anything.

That's why I'm offering a 48 hour approval period. You don't like it, send it back.

Re: How cool would this be? Amp Covering Material Question

Maybe you should bundle it with an EBMM Sub 1. ;)

No pun intended but that seems like a pretty road-worthy covering. Do you think it would goop up around the edges, making it harder to pull the chassis?

Re: How cool would this be? Amp Covering Material Question

Either build it a tiny bit wider or consider it can be rather thin there on the edges, but I get your point. Seems like a cool idea to me. Something better than tolex perhaps.

understandable. cliips dont do justice to true tone, ever.

Re: How cool would this be? Amp Covering Material Question

I would take note and walk on by. Not what I would look for in a quality amp-your aim right?. I am excited to see what you come up with but I don't think it will boost the amps' appeal.

Re: How cool would this be? Amp Covering Material Question

I think it's innovative. That's the point, isn't it?

Re: How cool would this be? Amp Covering Material Question

I think with a name like Celtic Amplifiers, if you cover them in anything other than some shade of darker green, you're cutting yourself short. I definitely want a green amplifier with silver trimmings..that would be so freakin cool :)

Re: How cool would this be? Amp Covering Material Question

I think it's a great idea, Scott, as long as you just make it an option. I'd like an amp with it, but I think there are many who have to have tolex. But definitely make it an option.

you're damn right it would be.

Actually Scott, when I read or say "Celtic Amplifiers" the first thing that pops into my head is a green tolexed or covered amp with a silver badge, faceplate, or accents. That would be awesome.

Re: How cool would this be? Amp Covering Material Question

i'd want to hear if it had a noticeable sonic effect before committing to it .. i fear it would dampen the cabinet's contribution to the tone ... which, depending on taste, may or not be desireable

cool idea to try though
